There are some great players among those who took part in this footballing classic.
1- AC MILAN V LAZIO 1972
17th December 1972. Something particular happened that day. The match against Lazio was postponed due to fog. In Milan, during wintertime, you would expect it. Although, that league game was not postponed before the game started or during the first half. The referee decided to postpone it in the 81st minute when AC Milan were leading 1-0, with a goal scored by Chiarugi. The match was almost won. The replay took place a month later, on 17th January 1973: AC Milan 3-1 Lazio with the two teams in the top positions of the table.

2- AC MILAN V LAZIO IN 1989 AND AC MILAN V LAZIO IN 1997
Two matches, eight years between them and one player in common: Paolo Maldini. Both these games were played at the beginning of the season. On 23rd October 1989 Lazio win 1-0 with an own goal by Paolo Maldini. Giovanni Galli could not believe it. Eight years later, AC Milan draw 1-1 after playing a great match. This was the only clash between the two teams at San Siro in which Maldini played as right full-back.

It was Cesare Maldini’s second match as AC Milan coach, 1st April 2001, with Lazio defending champions and with the chance to win the league again. AC Milan took home the three points winning 1-0. Goal courtesy of Zvonimir Boban. That was the Croatian’s last goal in competitive matches.

4- AC MILAN V LAZIO 2005
One of the most breathtaking and thrilling matches played at San Siro in the new millennium. The first half ended 0-0, Lazio find the lead in the second half. AC Milan are struggling even after Shevchenko levelled it. It looks like the match will end 1-1 but at the 94th minute, in the last minute of added time, Crespo finds the 2-1 and San Siro goes wild.

Filippo Inzaghi’s first match as AC Milan manager, the first day of the season. The match is intense and AC Milan win 3-1 with a convincing performance. This game saw Jeremy Menez scoring his first goal in competitive matches with the Red and Blacks.
